RUTGERS RAN OVER MIKE'S DOG

Mike Francesa has just gone on an anti-Rutgers screed. We've heard Mike rip into people before. But this is extraordinary. "Hey Rutgers fans. Your team is a fraud." Mike, we might need to get you security. Do you really want to challenge New Jersey state pride? Now I'm not from Jersey, but even I am taking umbrage at this all-out assault on this university. What exactly prompted this? Did Continent piss in Mike's Diet Coke? Did Schiano bone Roe? Did Rutgers alumni James Gandolfini and Mario Batali kill one of his horses? Whatever it is, Mike is not having any of Rutgers.

There really must be some sort of backstory. Anyone have any answers? This is like when Ralphie beat that stripper to death in the Sopranos. No one is willing to step in to stop this nonsense. Please. For the love of god.

Rutgers is losing by 30 because they are studying. That's funny.

Well the internet is definitely one..

MIke has yet to discover this, Sal what's it called? Inter-something, Interweb? People actually have places where they criticize this show? I have no use for anything like that.

Nothing worse than one guy making picks for all 16 NFL Games. This is where a partner is needed.

Making NFL picks is the biggest waste of a time on any sports radio station.

Agreed?

Johnny, well yes, except in Fatcesa's case, in which it can't help but be more interesting than 99% of the program "content".

The anti - RU backlash is a result of RU fans being some of the most arrogant and brash fans out there. They couldn't just be content with being a solid second tier football program, no, they had to be Sugar Bowl bound.

I, as a life long New Jersey resident, hate Rutgers University football.

How does Mike feel about Playboy TV being a sponsor. I wish they would have paid for a live spot so Mike would have to talk about "sexy" programming.

I can understand the sentiment that Rutgers thought they were more than they are. But he just threw urine in every fans face when he said, "Rutgers fans. Your team is a fraud." Does Rutgers really deserve that? They have been a doormat for years. And they create some excitement. Now everyone wants to bitch slap them. Something is rotten in Denmark.

C.J. said...

Yes, Gman, the team does deserve it. They attempt to run roughshod over the state of New Jersey, and all for a football program that is a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars. How many sports programs have been eliminated due to money being funneled to the football program? How much taxpayer money will be wasted when Greg Schiano leaves his contract and doesn't have to pay back any money? What will the state do with the mansion they built for Greg, that he will undoubtedly abandon? I supposed if they keep playing like this the only team you'll have to worry about Greg jumping to is Piscataway High.

Pathetic in Piscataway. One of the best lines I've ever heard from the fat man.

Francesa’s dog days

A long, long time ago, it became clear Mike Francesa repeated himself. Now, working solo, his habit of making the same point over and over and over again is even more annoying.

Hey, if you bet the over - Friday - on the number of times Francesa called Rutgers “a fraud” football team, you won. If Francesa did not repeat himself, or if the repetition was edited out, his show would be over in less than two hours. That’s why Francesa might want to consider stepping up his search for a new partner.

If someone is not brought in soon, like by the end of the month (or sooner), half the audience will be put to sleep. They might even be driven (by boredom) to migrate to Sirius XM to catch Chris (Mad Dog) Russo’s high-energy act.

Speaking of Doggie, who begins serving Satellite Screamcheese Monday, well-embedded fleas say he has reached out to Adam (Nabob of Nugget) Schein, offering the Loud Mouth a gig on his “Mad Dog Radio” channel.

I don't know how many times Mike repeating the same thing has led me to scream "We get it! Move on!" He also throws in extra words, which add up to a good amount of wasted time over the course of a day. "Brett Favre is a guy who gives opposing teams that feeling of danger, they don't know what he's going to do next." Translation: "Brett Favre can score any time."

If there's one guy who trumps Mike in arrogance as well as repetition, it's Jim Rome.

Dog tomorrow. No more Mike'd Up. Bye Mike, it has been fun, but I'm better friends with your ex and we can no longer be friends...

what are the odds Mike gets a new jingle by tomorrow to battle Dog?

Rutgers Football is the guy that shows up on the golf course with the best clubs, best shoes, dressed to the 9s in golf attire. Non stop talk about how good he is, how he under Par on the Bethpage black, than can even hit the ball 150 yards straight. That is Rutgers. The program has bought the negative attention on themselves with all their BS during interviews.

Rutgers football *is* a joke, an expensive fraud that is ripping off both students and NJ taxpayers. Why is a coach with a lifetime losing record one of the nation's highest paid? The funny part is how fast are abandoning Rutgers. The stadium is turning into a ghost town where the only "residents" are too drunk to move.

Everything mike said about rutgers is true, they just lost by 32 at home to a bottom feeder acc team, does rutgers fans want a parade. They have had one one good season in over 100, ru fans need to stop whining and accept what they are an average at best program.

That comment about Roe was out of line. You can criticize his work all you want, but it's not right to make suggestive remarks about his wife.

Who ever said Rutgers was going to the Sugar Bowl or was USC as Mike contended? Was it some 18 year old on a message board? Schiano and Mulcahy know who they are and also who they want to be, so they are working towards their aspiration of being a contender. And for that vision and that bravado, losers like Mike shoot them down the very first chance he gets!

Don't understand why all the hate for RU football. So they are 0-2 and have looked bad this season, so what? In years past there were no expectations and no excitement and now there is a level of excitement at RU. Francessa has some axe to grind with RU that goes beyond normal commentary on a program or team. Schiano has run a good program and started at like 500 feet below ground in terms of what he inherited. Now he fills the stadium and gets better players. Why doesn't Mike berate Joe Girardi and his 200MM payroll? Or his buddy Charlie Weiss and his failures?

He obviously hates RU for some reason and for a local team made up of mostly tri-state kids who may have been or are currently FAN listeners, it's crappy to belittle them like they are highly paid professionals. He sounds like a fool.

Amazing reading these comments 4 years later. Long Island Christopher pretending to be from New Jersey. Go back to Islip! Mike's rants are a deep seated hatred of New Jersey that he must hide due to his large fan base in NJ. He uses Rutgers as a substitute for his real hatred. Fair enough I detest Long Island and somehow I managed to get degrees from Rutgers and St. John's. Rutgers is not the next OSU or Auburn, but they will be a solid big ten program that occasionally breaks into the top ten. Deal with it!

In re-reading these comments including my own, it is 6 years later not 4. Also Rutgers won 7 straight games including a bowl win over NC State in 2008. No retorts to my comments cause the Rutgers bashes have crawled back under the rocks they came from. Shame on all of you! Yes the few RU fans that thought the program was headed to top 10 status each year are dreaming. Then again the RU bashes are eating #%*+ as RU is becoming a mid level Big10 team. Again Deal with it!
