MIKE-O NO LIKE-O OCHO CINCO

I was listening to the NFL Now Sunday morning because, hey, it's a nice way to get ready for game day. So Mike Francesa brings up Chad Javon Ocho Cinco and how all the pregame shows will inevitably talk about his name change. He says 'Who cares? He's an overrated player on a bad team.' Then says how all the pregame shows are such a joke because they would talk about this topic. This is Mike's hypocritical arrogance at its worst.

Was I listening to Mike on Friday when he had Howie Long on and said to Howie, 'We've all enjoyed you on the show over the years.' Howie, feel free to take shiv out of your back. Apparently, Mike thinks your show is a joke. Now, onto the other absurdity of that statement. Mike, you've been doing NFL Now for 21 years, which he reminded listeners of this morning. You do the show till Noon. And then you probably head back to your house so you can sit your fat ass on the couch and watch the games. By the time you get home, you probably have about 20 minutes to watch any of the shows. And by then, those guys are basically rehashing the same shit. So it's not like you're getting their best stuff. You really can't speak to the quality of their shows. (Disclaimer: I do not watch the pregame shows. They drive me relatively insane. But I'm perfectly fine defending them against Mike Francesa.)

Now Mike, I would never call you naive. In fact, you're so cynical that I've on more than one occasion accused you of not having a soul. But 'who cares' about Chad Johnson changing his name to Ocho Cinco? A lot of people. And it's not just because people like or dislike this particular wide receiver. The NFL for years has tried to subjugate the individual for the good of the league. From endzone celebrations to Jim McMahon's headbands. And here is an athlete who has legally changed his name so he can celebrate himself. Basically, he ran an end around on the No Fun League. And what does the NFL do? They put the kabosh on it, claiming that there is some sort of financial consideration with Reebok and their jersey licensing agreement. This would classify as news. News enough for a pregame show dedicated to a sport to at least mention. But apparently, Mike doesn't care. He just uses COC as an excuse to bash NFL pregame shows, which he doesn't watch, but lies to his guests and listeners about. Bravo, Mike. Bravo.

Mike's Sunday radio football show is excellent, Ocho Cinco is a pathetic joke, the Sunday TV shows are redundant and non-compelling at best. Howie Long knows his show blows and is collecting a paycheck, would not be surprised if he joined Mike on the radio. I have to go with Mike on this one pal, sorry...
