BACK AND FORTH

FTLT and I decided to reunite Mike and Chris. Although not for real. Just on the blogosphere. Below is a running dialogue from both shows just after 2pm:

2:03 RUSSO "This will not be a New York-centric show. You wanna talk Nebraska football...You want talk Oklahoma City Thunder...we will figure out how to get everyone in the mix."
2:05 RUSSO "We have a group of hosts that we are putting together." Sound familiar?
2:05 MIKE comes back from commercial and talks about how hard it is to park at Giants Stadium.
2:05 RUSSO "Boxing is not my baliwick. I love book authors. I love history." He also said that he liked the Triple Crown horse races and that he would talk about the Breeder's Cup. And I thought I bought Sirius XM to escape that shit?
2:06 RUSSO referred to Francesa as 'a great partner'
2:06 MIKE welcomes in Giants General Manager Jerry Reese and tells him it’s a big day for the organization. Reese agrees.
2:07 RUSSO "I don't love the New York teams."
2:07 MIKE asks Jerry if he thinks about last year as such “an unlikely run.” Reese agrees it was unique.
2:07 MIKE asks Jerry “When did you start to think you had a pretty good team? Was it the Pats game?” Reese says it was training camp.
2:08 RUSSO admits he is 'an acquired taste'
2:08 For the 8 billionth time, MIKE mentions the goal line stand against the Redskins.
2:09 MIKE tells Reese he had a remarkable year last season. Riveting.
2:09 MIKE tells Reese he is being modest, a word I didn’t know was in Mike’s vocabulary.
2:10 RUSSO - Sirius XM hired him for 5 years. "I won't bail out because someone wants to talk about Nebraska basketball." What's with the Nebraska fixation? He must think that anything outside the New York metropolitan area is Nebraska.
2:10 MIKE says that losing Strahan and Osi is big. “Can the Giants overcome it?”Jerry says it will make the team focused. This show could use some focus.
2:11 RUSSO admits he has to get warmed up because he hasn't worked in a month.
2:12 RUSSO - Grant Hill will be a guest at 3 o'clock.
2:12 MIKE "Last year, your rookies did a great job. How about your core this year?"
Jerry: "Right now, they look good on paper."
2:12 RUSSO "Let's try to keep the language clean...I've got 4 kids...Let's not go out of the way to be raunchy. We're not Howard."
2:13 MIKE asks Jerry about Carr being the backup quarterback. Jerry says he did a nice job. Reese knew that he had the skill sets. Is that term ever applied to any other sport than football?
2:14 RUSSO - Compared his introductory show to the movie debuts of Gone with the Wind and We Are Marshall. Yeah, that works.
2:14 MIKE talks about what a terrific division the NFC East is. Jerry thinks all the divisions are good. Great stuff here.
2:15 RUSSO Bill Zimmerman is his producer and Stevie Cohen is his executive producer.
2:15 MIKE tells us yet again, and for anyone that DIDN’T know, that he was always a severe critic of Shockey.
2:26 RUSSO "The Chiefs stink."

New Doggie Number: 866 522 2846

He also said: "Right Mike?"

And Satelite/XM instead of Sirius/XM

"Brady" Coyle, meant Brodie Croyle -

Doggie's new show is the complete opposite of Fatso's show. 30 minutes of talk followed by 3 minutes of commercials instead of vice versa.

It's funny because we've gone over how little time Mike and Chris were actually on air. Cut Russo's air time in half because Mike talks, and he has exponentially raised the amount of content that he has to cover. I will say this. Listening this first hour...I think Russo will make it. If they get people around the nation to listen, I think they will love/hate him.
Right now, nothing but New York area phone calls into his show.

less than 2 hours in and we're being bored by political talk. Wow, this show is doomed.

Russo just fielded a call from Tennessee(might as well be Nebraska). The guy asked about the Buffalo Bills. Threw Russo off balance a bit. I can't wait until he gets his first Nebraska football question. "I mean, I can't go too crazy about Bo Cellini. Don't blame it all on Bill Shanahan."

So far, no Cars for Kids ads on Doggie's show. We did get Mandy Moore singing.

Mike keeps cutting Sal off. Doesn't care for his thoughts on why he is making the picks he is, he only likes to hear his own voice.

What a fatso.

So Dog says it is too early to talk about the Columbus Bluejackets...But it must be the perfect time to talk college basketball with Grant Hill.

Yea Mike is a little over the top..And the word little being an understatement...Give Dog three days and he ll be in tip top shape with the is new gig, and please Dog must be saying how hard can my job be with this as his top competition..

I wonder if either Howard or Scott Farrell will call in for an official welcome. Howard has raved about Dog and Farrell used to work at WFAN.

I have a question...Was it Cashman who said that Joba was going back to the bullpen at the start of next season? But here is the wrinkle didnt Cashman on Tues say he didnt know if he were gonna be back next season, is that sign that he Cashman himself will be returning has Yankee Gm..

where the hell is Goodell calling from, underneath a helicopter? If Mike wasn't so desperate for guests this call would have been ended already.

gman26 said...

4:25pm Goodell is now on with Chris. The helicopter is gone but it is a little windy.

Goodell just said that NFL Network programming is the best programming in sports and possibly in entertainment. What are you high, Roger?

KBilly said...

gman, I got a kick out of that too. Like Goodell never heard of the Playboy Channel...

What we have learned:
Neither the Cowboys nor the Chargers will make it to the SB.
Thanks Doggie, I hope your NFL picks turn out as good as your MLB picks (Seattle over 85 wins).

What I have learned from Peter King is that I shouldn't have drafted Javon Walker. What we have learned is that Russo thinks anything west of jersey is 'the heartland'. What we have also learned is that Sirius XM has to let people outside of the NY/NJ area that this show is on the air.

New Stinks List:
KC Chiefs
Brewers bullpen

Good music bumpers. Much better than that stupid jingle from the old show.

I'm off Russo for the Giants game. Fatso is going to get killed without Doggie. Kay is even better than him. I doubt I will ever listen to WFAN again. They were the only thing i ever listened to anyway. Doggie was fun to listen to today and I usually listen to Sirius anyway. Brilliant move by CBS radio. in 3 years, they lose Howard, fire Imus and let Dog walk to bank the future on a boring blowhard. I never liked Imus, but always listened to Howard and MMD. now, I wont listen to WFAN or KROK ever again...

If i stand corrected it Fatcesa who was all over my Mariners bandwagon this season..Mariners over 85 was Fatcesa's first pick..notice the trend if you have killed the Yanks in the past Mike is enamored with them. Hence, Erik Bedard, Bronson Arroyo and Manny Ramirez
