HOW WILL MIKE AND THE MAD DOG HANDLE TODAY?

Now that we have all had some time to digest the Willie firing, the question now turns to Mike and the Mad Dog and what is likely to be a show that is not to be missed.

How many times will Chris say "THIS IS A TRAVESTY." Or "Mike come on, this is an awful job." Or "How can you PUT HIM ON THE PLANE?" Or "FIRE HIM ON SATURDAY OMAR?" or "YOU HAD A WHOLE WEEKEND."

The first segment of the show we need vintage MMD, we need Russo fired up and screaming, we need the same from Mike.

Will the Mets throw Omar to the wolves and let Mike and Chris have at them during a post press conference interview? If so, close the door to your office, get your headphones on, and get ready for some fireworks because if Mike and Chris do one thing well it's beating up on people like Omar in situations like this. It's almost like it's their opportunity to lash out for all the times people picked on them when they were kids. Omar will get destroyed.

Remember, Omar disobeyed Mike's order that Willie could not be fired after June 16th and that's not going to make Mike happy.

Get ready sports fans, this should be a good one. You have any thoughts on what's going to happen today? Let's us know..

Sam..I need me my MMD today. Been craving it all day. Woke up to the news and tried to watch Mike and Mike on ESPN for Willie coverage, but instead I got self promotion of the NBA Finals on ABC. Then I got a few segments on Tiger. Tried switching to the morning shows on WFAN, Carton first (how does this guy have a show?) was awful. His idea of covering this story was catchy awful songs. Joe and Evan have been lame also. Evan thinks this was Minaya's call and said the Wilpons are "classy." Really Ev? Classy? I need mike and Chris to come on go fucking ballistic. I need that. There other alternatives have been awful. MMD are going to be insane today. Must listen to radio. Must watch TV on YES. If you are a fan of MMD, today is like the Super Bowl.

I keep on looking at the clock to see if it is any closer to 1pm. Russo's hello today-the volume, the length-will really let us know how the show will go.

What does this mean for the Willie Randolph Show on MMD?

ANON - Who can say? What's the over/under that Jerry Manuel fills in that spot? I wouldn't be surprised if they turned to a player. Like David Wright. The big question is whether or not or when Willie Randolph will come on the show. Maybe this week.

Interesting point but Gman, I am not sure if Jerry Manuel would take over seeing as I have never heard him speak in his life. And I think speaking is a key part to doing interviews.

well, willie got paid to do that spot every week. It wasn't volunteer work. someone else will likely get paid as well.

Terrible job by Chris today. One of the first things out of his mouth was 'I don't know what to say'. Huh? This is your fucking job. what are you doing before 1pm? Drinking Snapple and playing tennis with Jeannie? Figure out something to say.

Gman, I think it's a lot more of a TERRIBLE job out of Mike, who is living in lala land if he thinks Omar made the call here.

Didn't Mike and Maddog say YESTERDAY, that the Mets can't fire Willie, the "window of opportunity" (about a freaking zillion times) had closed.

And what did the Mets do?

Just another example of just how OUT THERE these two are. They suck.

another favorite moment of mine was a caller called a while ago and said he had 2 points - one on the mets and one on the yanks. mike and chris nearly jumped through the phone and killed him for thinking he could talk yankees today. then minutes later, jon heyman comes on and after a couple minutes on willie, mike says "jon, let's move over to the Yanks."
