Now, I do not know how many people read this little blog of ours. However many you are, we sure do appreciate you and tomorrow I would like to ask you to do us a favor. It's a small one and won't require too much of your time, especially if you have a quick redial button.
Mike and Chris will be sitting uncomfortably close to one another tomorrow as they do a remote from Giants camp. Now they are going to attempt to dazzle you with things like Eli Manning, Cover Two, repeat champions, Tom Coughlin, perhaps a Strahan mention or a thousand. They are going to toss out there words like slot receiver and perhaps mention a Shockey and Floyd Reese tussle. Yes, they will try to distract you with all sorts of stories and guests, yes actual guests. And you for a second might be seduced. You might see Mike and Chris together and think everything is alright with the world. You might hear them laughing with Armani Toomer and think that Mike and Chris are just two regular guys, talking sports, living the dream. You might during the parade of laughter and actual real live guests which you haven't seen for weeks outside of Jon Heyman, you might forget what month it is.. you might... but don't cause that's where our favor comes in
Tomorrow is still August, the month where we are allowed to finally talk about the Rays. Tomorrow is the first day that Mike Francesca is hosting a radio show in August. TOMORROW IS THE DAY THAT WE AT MIKE AND THE MAD BLOG ASK YOU, OUR LOYAL READERS, (or even those who are reading for the first time or by mistake) TO PICK UP THE PHONE AND TALK TAMPA BAY RAYS BASEBALL! Post the telephone number maybe - the number is the number, good job!
you might have to say you have a question about Eli or Shockey to get thru...but once you're through, make sure you talk about the Rays because we are allowed to now that it is august.
I got a trip to Maine today. That gives me a 5 hour window of hitting redial on my cell. Can you imagine, that fat fuck is gonna lose it. That Joba the Hut face is gonna puff out, get really really red, he'll pound down the D cokes like crazy, the blood pressure will slowly build.....he'll deny he ever said it, or that he didn't mean it that way and Opps!, FAN will have misplaced yet another tape.
So lets predict what he says after someone tells him it's August....
Will he...
1. Admit he was wrong?
2. Continue to say they are not for real?
3. Deny he ever said it?
4. Waive off the caller before he can finish saying "Tampa Bay?"
5. Say talk to me in October?
6. Spin it into saying he was right, Joba should never have been moved to a starter this year?
- anyone have any other predictions?
and oh, lets not forget, before the season started, MMD pick over and under for a bunch of teams as a contest....and Mike picked the Rays to win under 74 games (they're already at 65 with two months to go)...
Mike also picked Seattle to win over 89 i think....and said they were a great "bet" to win the World Series.
Be fair. Mike and Chris recently went over their over/under picks. They both admitted that they were getting killed. Mike almost couldn't believe that he was going to be under .500 with his picks.
I think the Giants smoke screen should work to get through. Tell them that you think Kevin Boss is the next Bavaro or how Accorsi was a genius when he picked Kiwanuka a few years ago.
This is a great idea, but this may not be the best day to do it. They're at Giants' training camp, which gives them an easy out if there's a caller they want to dump.
"Hey, Mikey, it's August! You said to talk to you --"
"Sorry caller, but here comes Kevin Boss. What? Oh, he's on his way to a meeting. Who's next? Mike from Montclair, take it away."

Mike says that Favre wants to play ONLY for the Vikings.
So you can bet that he ends up in with the Jets or TB.

To take that a step further, Mike was on by himself a week or so later and stated to a caller that "the Rays will win less than 65 games, because WHERE ARE THEY GOING TO GET THE WINS FROM IN THe AL EAST?!"
