We Turn This Hour Over to You

We've been posting like crazy this afternoon. But it's time for us to turn things over to you, the fan of the Mike and the Mad Blog.
You can come on and talk about whatever you want. We do owe it all to you. 3 months and as much as you think we impacted your life, you impacted ours more. So give us your thoughts on how the last 24 hours have played out.

Reporting in from North Carolina here. I came in the house last night and my boyfriend was in full on crisis mode. Over the next 19 hours it successively turned into rage, then sorrow, then despondency and now, catatonia. I don't know what to do to. He thinks he's personally responsible because he moved down here and now he can only listen over our admittedly spotty internet connection.

I proud to have been a fan of this show for the last 12 years. I'm 24 now and I can remember listening to the show while driving to shea stadium with my dad. I live in westchester county and I will continue to be a fan of the show. My only regret is that I was never able to get through to speak to the both of them. Are you guys going to change the name of the website?

Kmar..no name change. We will keep it the same. Qp, I know that feeling well. A state of shock.

qp - I must admit. I'm a contributing writer from NC. My internet works just fine. And Kmar, I grew up in Westchester and just moved from there 2 years ago. 914 represent.

I think you guys are doing a GREAT job with this site and I find the lack of personal attacks and name calling (especially TROLL) refreshing.

Some of us like these guys, some are indifferent and some are ridiculously hostile towards them (hmm, who would that be?)

AND you guys regularly get through and get on the show.

Lots of admiration here. Keep it up!!

Kbilly

we had to delete that comment. Just as Mike said, 'we never did guy no talk, no scatology', let's not go over the top.

mike just revealed that Governon patterson wants to come on.. Doesn't he have something better to do, like say, Govern the state?

Dear Purveyors of MMB,

Let me just say that this site has been a god-send for me in this turbulent summer. From the excellent Colonel Jessup pieces, to the wall-to-wall coverage of the Great Schism, to the assiduous ridicule of Mike and Dog - this blog is one stop shopping.

I kinda like Mike and Chris, but I gotta give it up to you guys - you've got something special here.

Now some of these comments are starting sound sentimental about this site. We're staying. But thanks for any kind words. Just so you know, the traffic on this site in the last 16 hours has been ridiculous. Over 2,000 unique visitors. Thanks for all the support. A lot of you don't comment, but we know you're there.

You guys had no way of knowing it when you started this thing, and you really have no choice but to go all-out now that it's happened, but today's breakup is you guys being Dan Rather in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.

Yeah Alex, let's keep it together.

This show has been very interesting though, I gotta say. Def a sad day. Love some of these calls, even if it gets too sappy every few calls. Now Calhoun calling up...interesting

Mike is doing an admirable job on an otherwise tough day yet it's hard not to see his ego coming thru?

He has stated his wish against future partners/the last day of the Mike and the mad Dog show/a new jingle and format/not being reduced to tears/etc.--- I understand the relationship but it seems like Mike is going to enjoy himself this weekend and planning his own future and HIS new show?

Say what you will but I think Mad Dog was the one who truly loved this show and its audience. Mad Dogs emotions seem real. Chris had life enjoying interests outside the show while Mike had financially lucrative interests(other shows/horse racing).

Part of me thinks Mad Dog was the one who did it for "The Love Of The Game".

Mike will be a huge success in his new show and Chris will do well too but I think us fans lost the real "heart and soul" behind this show.

Life will go on but this is a sad day!!!

anonymous...very well said.

I think it sucks that Dog is leaving, but does the fact that I don't feel remotely like crying make me a soulless S.O.B.? Some of the people calling in, barely in control of their emotions, are a bit much.

petey, you are like Mike. You have no soul. The Tony call got me.

am i getting this right?

Some blogspot is comparing itself to Dan Rather covering the JFK assassination? Neil Best broke the story for Newsday, not some kids obsessively following along with their laptops.

M&MD were great and I loved their show, but this blog is a bit obtuse don't you think? 2000 unique visitors? Deadspin just got that many hits in the amount of time it took you to read this comment.

YOU got it wrong, anon. WE didn't write it. A reader wrote it in the comments. Not a contributor. And as far as Deadspin doing all the traffic. No shit, Sherlock. They've been around forever and do the whole country in sports. Mikefrancesa.com does 10 times the traffic as this site does. We started in May. Bringing up the numbers is just showing how crazy the popularity of mike and the maddog were, for this small site to do that much traffic.

Also, we are not kids we are married adults with children who happen to have time and energy to devote to the daily lives of two men talking sports on the radio for five hours. While this is not the same honorable task as blogging simply about sports or who matt leinart is hooking up with at the kappa sig frat party at USC, we do the best we can.

Thanks for reading. Congratulations to Deadspin on their 2000 unique viewers. It's a great site

I have no use for Francesa but I have been enjoying Chris on WFAN for my entire adult life. I didn’t expect it to feel this way but I feel a tremendous sense of loss now that he won’t be in my daily life in the same way. It is true that you don’t know what you have until it is gone. Thanks, Chris, for making me laugh and for being a big part of my life for 19 years. Important sporting events have been more enjoyable because you were there to share them with me. I’ll look for you on the radio in the future. Good luck with your new endeavors.

FYI, Chris' bio page is still on the WFAN site (http://www.wfan.com/pages/119348.php) but all links to it have been removed. His picture has also been removed from the roster of on-air personalities.

Also, the Sirius page on Wikipedia now mentions Chris and the speculation that he may be moving there. I'm always amazed at how fast Wikipedia pages get updated with current events.
