Anyone listening or reading this blog and others out there today can see that there is a lot of heartbreak over the breakup of Mike and Chris. I did a little web search and here are some little aids to help you make it through this difficult time.

what happened, and ask yourself why. You have to make it clear to yourself that this may not be entirely your fault - or not your fault at all. : YES, EVERYONE IT IS, I REPEAT NOT YOUR FAULT THAT CHRIS IS LEAVING FOR SIRIUS FOR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS! IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!!!!

Accept your pain. Have your good long cries if you feel like it. CHRIS HAS CRIED, TONY HAS CRIED, ROE AND JEANNIE HAVE BEEN CRYING... CRY AWAY

Keep your distance. Even if you and your ex have decided to stay friends, take a complete break from each other immediately after the breakup. That means no seeing each other, no phone calls. NO PHONE CALLS. THIS MEANS YOU FIRST TIME LONG TIME. THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL GET OVER CHRIS LEAVING IS IF YOU... PUT THAT PHONE DOWN

Think through everything thoroughly, but not obsessively. Go ahead and mull it over, as many times as necessary, within reason. Consider all the reasons you two broke up. Understand that you enjoyed one another for a while, but even though everything seemed okay to you, if the relationship was not what your partner wanted for life, it would have ended eventually, no matter what. In this case, better sooner than later: I THINK THAT THIS WILL BE HELPFUL FOR OUR PAL FIRST TIME LONG TIME

Deal with the hate phase. This is where you want to just scream because you are so angry, even furious: THIS I BELIEVE MEANS YELLING AT FRANCESCA.

Write all your feelings down.: BLOG IT OUT

Breakup indeed. It has often been said, including by themselves, that their partnership was like a marriage. And from listening to them today, it certainly seems that they have gone into that weird, reeling, emotionally-vulnerable place that only lovers can after a split.

And the thing is, a breakup, be it sudden or gradual/inevitable, always holds the seeds for a makeup. Try and tell me Dog didn't wake up this morning and think "God, what have I done? How did this happen? Does it reeeally have to be this way?" It took less than 24 hours from the public announcement for the two of them to be waxing poetically and as tenderly as possible (ie Ringo joke) about the show, the history, the whole bit.

Now, don't get me wrong. I don't think for a second that a reunion will ever happen now. Ironically, Mike's vanity and pride both prevent this from happening (he wants to prove himself solo now) and also make it seem more desirable (out of a sense of nostalgia, for the time when, as he once said, M&MD "held the trophy").

The bottom line is they both know it is only downhill for each of them, and the fact that they were willing to talk together today proves that the acrimony between them cannot stanch the pride they have in the show (i.e. their relationship). No, they probably won't grow old together. But they will always wonder what if, and like Juliet looking at her self-slain lover, wonder why their "trophy" was relinquished. They will be haunted by the knowledge that it didn't have to be this way.

And, I think it's safe to say, so will we.

WT - where have you been? Look at you all, montagues and capulets. "God, what have I done" is a very accurate assessment of Dog today.
