RUSSO IN HEAVEN TODAY

The entire opening segment on the Nadal/Federer championship at Wimbledon. I wonder if Mike would have allowed Chris to open the show with Wimbledon today if he were there. But Russo is loving this today. He ended the segment saying there were
"3 things that have occurred so far in the first 6 months of the calendar year that are going down in history..." and those were
the Giants/Pats Super Bowl, Tiger's Knee and performance vs Mediate in the US Open and Federer/Nadal. Tennis all day on the FAN today...

jason...baseball? big mets/phils series? Yanks/red sox? hmm, must have missed that in the papers this morning...now back to Federer's unforced errors..

no doubt russo wouldve led off the show had the mets lost 2 out of the 3 so far with them.

same with the yanks, if they didnt split.

sometimes, the only reason met losses bother me so much is that i know ill have to deal with it from 1-6 the next day. lol.

nah, russo would've lead off with tennis today no matter what. it was one of the greatest matches of all time yesterday. it just doesn't make good radio.

this is kind of classic...Russo moves from tennis to Brewers GM Doug Melvin. No doubt Melvin is a good spot today after the Brewers got C.C., but this is New York. You might wanna mention the Yanks and Mets soon. you might..

Wow...Federer/Nadal, followed by Doug Melvin, followed by Venus/Serena. It's almost an hour and a half into the show and no mention of Mets or Yanks....Russo is loving this.

God, this is so annoying. I understand yesterday was historic for tennis, and I'm not going to take that away from anyone, but geez! You know, the mets did play the phillies and the yankees did play the red sox. If this is going to be one of those shows like the one before the almost triple crown where Baseball just got glanced on, I swear I'm gonna snap.

Welcome back everyone, hour 6 of our radio program and oh yeah the Mets won a 7 hour game and the yankees won an extra inning game with a rookie hitting the game winner off of Red Sox Closer Johnathan Papbelboon.

Don't you guys get a little sick of talking about Mets, Yankees, Yankees, Mets ALL THE TIME??

You can't go crazy, there are 162 baseball games per year per team in New York. Let the guy talk a little tennis today.

Anyone hear the caller who told Dog to relax with the tennis? "You're talking about it like it was Ali-Frazier!" Classic.

We know Dog likes tennis, but just because he likes it, doesn't mean he knows everything about it. Case in point: a caller says he liked the fact that Wimbledon DOES NOT have a 5th set tiebreak to decide the champion, like the US Open (which uses a tiebreak in the 5th set). The caller logically assumes that had there been a 5th set tiebreak, Federer, having already won tie breaks in sets three and four would have won.

Dog, who claims he watches (and plays) a lot of tennis, says that the other slams play 5th set tiebreaks. Just for the record, only the US Open uses a 5th set tiebreak. At the Aussie, French and Wimbledon, they play it out until a player wins by two games.

Sorry Doggie, gotta know that and gotta know that BEFORE you come on the air.

Dog (and Mike, for that matter) has been on autopilot for years. They don't prepare for their shows, always have to get someone to look up stats and players' names for them, and they are always the last to know about breaking news like trades or players getting cut. It's funny that they mock ESPN for releasing wrong information (Eli Manning being out 6-8 weeks is a popular example), yet Mike is always looking at their Web site.
