Why oh why does Mike ALWAYS have to preface a point by talking about HIS personal relationship with a player? Who the hell cares that you didn't get along with Shockey? Who gives a shit that you and Billy Wagner don't do Sunday Brunch? Who in Gods name cared that you and Tim Russert hadn't made up before he died? This idea that when talking about someone, that you have to first mention the state of your personal relationship with that person, is ludicrous. It just goes to show what a super-sized, inflated ego you have.
You said the following sentence "We had a very bad relationship, but leave that aside..." Well, if you are going to leave that aside, then why bring it up in the FIRST PLACE!!!!
No one cares about your personal standing with these players when you are judging or commenting on their performances. When Russert died, you had to spend hours repeating how you didn't return his calls and you guys were not on the best terms. Stop making everything about YOU!!!!

Anonymous. I have to strongly disagree. If Mike was mentioning this for the FIRST time ever, okay maybe. But anyone who listens to this show knows all about how mikey didn't get along with Shockey. That has nothing to do with how Shockey performed as a Giant or why the Saints traded him. Mike is not a member of the Giants organization.
nothing beats how fatso and the pup would wax nostalgic about how they got into a heated argument with cory lidle days before his death.
Yea but, there are always people listening to MMD for the first time, so, i have no problem with the disclaimer before his irrational babbling

Mike and Chris(especially Chris) always make these remarks that show just how narrow their world his. So I loved the whole idea of them talking about the movie 'the other Boleyn girl'. I loved when Chris , trying to clear up just where this fits in history said, 'Anne Boleyn with the King?' It's almost like 'the Tudors and the whole bit?'

Speaking of Cory Lidle, his death prompted Mike to say one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. He said something like "Cory's son will always remember that Derek Jeter was at his father's funeral." Yeah, Mike, that's why he went in the first place, to catch a glimpse of Derek Jeter.

When Mike and Dog were talking to Jerry Reece, one of them (not Reece) brought up Shockey. Mike, before Jerry could answer, made like Imus and tried to make it about himself: "Everyone knows, it's no secret, Shockey and I didn't get along. Never got along." And Reece totally derailed him by saying he wanted to talk about current Giants, not former Giants. Excellent smackdown, Jerry, and let's hope there are many more.
