The Opposite of Funny

Mike just played one of those "John from Westchester" calls - the mock John Sterling/Waldman conversations and Mike almost falls over in laughter listening to it. Am I the only one that doesn't think these are as hilarious as Mikey? Do you folks out there think this is humorous? Watching on YES, you can see Carlin and Jones trying to force laughter. Jesus Christ, end this already.

I think he was off his game today. Not his best stuff at all, and he shouldn't try to incorporate other voices like Giuliani, that wasn't funny or even close. But he has in the past done some brilliantly funny stuff, one time in particular I can think of was when he was on with Boomer and Carton following the Yankees getting knocked out by Cleveland. I believe I have the audio of that saved on my computer it was so classic. I think he does a great Sterling and a pretty good Suzyn at times, but he has to have his material down a bit better than that. Today he was basically all over the place and it came off nonsensical. I still got a chuckle though, even if it was just from overanticipating.

I never even heard that guy before...i was wondering what the hell was that, but all in all i did not find it funny. And this show is dreadful today..

I think the poll would have different results if the world series was Dodgers/Rays than if it was Dodgers/Red Sox.

Sweet brothers of Jesus Alou...that was frickin' torture.

I've heard him many times before and the one-note yuck is looong over...much like Francesspool's tedium of a show.

I notice the 'Pool has been using OPS of late (at least Heyman has given the show something)...this reminds me of how Mike discovered WHIP after bashing Roto/Fantasy leagues for years.

"I always keep four chicken parms in the fridge. Two for me, one for Roe...and one I hide in the back for later."

Yes it is overdone, but the impressions themselves are quite good. This is some call in guy, how do you think you would do in a spot like that? I say give him some slack.

The problem with this guy is he now calls at least once a week. Yea it would be funny once every 6 months, but now its just not funny.

his name is Sourshoes. I like him, but he's better on Stern. With Mike or Dog, he sticks to Sterling and Waldman. He can impersonate almost anyone though and go in and out of voices while singing.
Howard said about him, "That kid really is talented, but I don't know what that talent is."

Having that guy on the show so often is definitely overkill. Look at "Frank TV" -- once in a while, his John Madden is funny, but every week? (And his George Bush not only sucks, but the skits are WAY too long.)

I didn't realize he was on that often. I hear him on very rarely with Mike. But then again I'm not usually up early enough to hear the morning shows. So for me at least it's not really overkill.

sometimes, for a few minutes, I am mildly amused by that caller, but yesterday it became almost uncomfortable -

I am looking forward to Joe Benigno and Mike today.

Could bring back memories of MMD...

I loved it. The Sterling Waldman impressions were priceless. I've been a regular listener for many years and have only heard the guy once or twice before. Carlin may not have appreciated it but I don't use him as a guide to humor or spontaneity.
