WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED(so far)

We have learned that various people at WFAN do good impersonations of Mike Francesa. We have learned that Joe Benigno is not a big fan of the Sweater, Russ Salzburg. We have also learned that Benigno is neurotic. We have learned that he also spends approximately an hour in the 3rd floor bathroom before this show. We have learned that Mike still wants to break up the Met core. We have learned Mike has not seen Joseph Abboud in a while. We have learned that "the Jets aren't about wrinkles right now." We have learned that Russo loves We Are Marshall but has issues with The Express. We have learned that "Ron Darling has become a star." We have learned Benigno considers himself "fortunate and normal". We have learned that Mike Francesa, who despite not having a soul, goes to church on Sundays. We have learned that Mike's daughter is a Met fan and his older son is a Yankee fan.

Belichick and Mikey are on the outs relationship-wise. I'll be surprised if Belichick KNOWS who the hell Mikey IS but, Mikey however is not ready to let bygones be bygones and is not willing to patch things up.

ps. those impersonations were pretty funny

I am glad Joe asked Mike if the reason he doesn't like Belicheck is because Belicheck didn't go on Mike's show.

Mike said it had nothing to do with that and he never asked him to, but i suspect Joe knows what is going on with Wright.

Oh, we have also learned that Mike is a Jets and Giants fan.

Have they discussed the Pac Man Jones thing? Did Benigno challenge Mike about his obsession / scheme to trade Wright?

This is a very entertaining show

MAYBE we don't have a jingle yet because they are waiting to see if Mike takes on a new partner after all and that new partner is Beningo. Chernoff should make that call.

Bill.... from Hauppauge said...

This is a good way for Chernoff to "stick it" to Russo, which he probably love to do.

You're right Bill-- This is it and I knew it would be.

Joe Beningo is by far my favorite WFAN personality. Not for his sports knowledge but because he also has many attributes of the "Joe Sixpack" type of listener.

Although "DOGs" net worth made him far from average I enjoyed him and miss him because he was able to discuss "non sports" issues in a way the average guy could relate to. That is something Mike seems too big to do.

I realize this can be a big payday for Joe B. but I would prefer if he kept his normal slot with Evan and if any big payday were to come his way he could do it via his TV gig with FSNY.

I'm just a bit uneasy thinking that Mike is currently being cordial and his mistreatment of whoever his next partner will be will become apparent in no time. I think not enough is made of the fact that DOG was actually able to tolerate Mikes ego for 19 years.

This of course is just my opinion.

Mike and Joe can't team up; that would give that spoiled little no-talent hack Evan his own mid-day show.

Bill.... from Hauppauge said...

WFAN will keep the mid day a 2 man slot, evan would get a new partner

Break up the Dodgers!

So...Joe needs to be teamed up with Mike...

Evan and the Schmmooze?

We found out that as long as you have mucho advertisers lined up, you don,t need any talent.

I personally would like to see Evan get a full shot with the Fat man. Hearing them go at it the other day was pretty good radio and I think that the afternoon show needs something the Yankees also need desperately, Youth. As far as Joe B goes the guy is a clown and would be on pretty much exclusively for the comic relief. I say give Evan Tuesday to see how he does (can't be any worse than the rest of the schmucks we've had lately) and give him the job wednesday if they're as good as they seemed. Otherwise, invest in the Doggy's new show because thankfully you can get his station on the sirius site now.

i better way to "Stick it to dog" would be to add Carlin as the co-host / sidekick for Mike.

If they hired Carlin for the gig Dog would no doubt be more insulted that a former producer of the show could fill his shoes.

Beningo is a talent un to himself and I cant see WFAN combining the two forces of Francesa and Beningo in one slot. Better to split up that exposure to cover more timeslots.

From what I've heard listening to Dog, there is no "sticking it to Dog" He has repeatedly said that he wishes Mike the best, even when caller say how bad Mike is without him. With Dog's contract and new show, I get the feeling he's pretty happy on Sirius/XM. He's just glad nobody is shushing him anymore and he never has to talk to the hand again.
I haven't heard a word Mike has said since Sept. 15.

thanks for the update on Russo, kbilly. i am listening to Russo a bit these days. But right now, the drama is with Francesa, because he is self-destructing before our eyes. A little bit like brittney Spears. All Russo can offer us is technical failures and his constant referrals to Lincoln, Nebraska as the heartland. "I understand in Lincoln if they want to talk football, but it's all about baseball right now."

Gman,

Yeah, I wanted to make official my wtsherman handle, and I did...but i forgot the password. This is relevant for two reasons:

1) I'm gonna just stick with WTSherman, even though it's forever black, not blue, nor highlighted. I wanted to make my new handle, of course, "TruckdriverfromLincoln."

2) Our friend NextBestThing1/NBT had a similar predicament in switching to Showtime1/S1. I commend him for that, but in the interim I've noticed the sense in which loyal friends of his - Prince/Formerly Known As-like - struggle to refer to him properly. Immediately following the switch, he was still NBT to the more sentimental among us, but intellectually we knew S1 had to prevail and was ultimately the right way to refer to him. Our hearts said one thing, and just because our minds clearly delineated the right future course, it didn't make it any easier to let go of NBT.

So it goes with the Cesa. When will the better angels of common sense and free market efficacy prevail on the cooler heads at WFAN to restore order. How long will it take for influential people to realize that Mike has "lost his password" and that he needs a new handle, one handle, just one.

So here's to you S1! We love and respect you here at this blog. We appreciate what you do. We can only hope that the fatter/est among us can take a cue. We are not holding are breath.

2)

ps - the first part of my post only makes sense if I say that i forgot my password, like S1, which is what happened.

the second part, well, it only makes sense if I was more thoughtful and a better writer, lol

Wow. Tampa hangs tough, fit Beckett with 8 runs in less than 5 IN, and beat the Sox in extra innings.

Ad revenue drives radio. If the ad sales dry up, So will Mike. So everyone who doesn't like Mike solo, just stop listening. The new rating system isn't Arbitron, it tracks what people are actually listening to instead of relying on certain people keeping a diary. WFAN gave Mike big money though. But I don't care, like I said, I am done with Mike.

I'm determined to get you guys to stop listening to Mike so I'm offering you my screen name and password (I have 2 accounts) to listen to Russo online at Sirius.com

Log on (screen name):
