And the titles goes to...

Evan Roberts. Roberts took Francesa to school today. Exposed Mike left and right with legitimate arguments and facts. Mike countered throughout the day with emotional outbursts and his usual dismissive tone. For whatever reason (likely the Delgado curtain call issue with Wright), Mike has made it his mission to get number five shipped out of New York. He tried to say he has suggested either Wright or Reyes and blamed the fans for turning this into a Wright thing when for weeks Mike has made it all about Wright with statements like "almost every team has a David Wright." But to his credit, Evan fought back all day. Sometimes his points weren't great, but for the most part, he challenged Mike and the big man yelled like a baby. Lt. Weinberg pointed out today that the cracks are showing even more so than ever before with Mike now that he is Russo-less. All of a sudden, callers are now getting bold with him. Instead of a simple handwave ending a call, Mike rants on and on trying to diminish the caller once he has stripped them of their voice. That's like throwing punches in an empty ring. Be a man Mike and at least let your opponent stick around while you throws jabs left and right. But Mike has got to be on a ratings crusade. He was slightly insane today. I thought yesterday was bad when he tried to make the subtle point that George Bush might one day be considered a great President. But today takes the cake. The cracks are indeed showing...And it's hard to call them cracks anymore...seems to me that there's a giant hole in Mike'd Up and that jingle can't come fast enough to save this ship..

I have given Francesa repeated passes so far, been called a "Francesa apoligist". So I repeat my post.........Francessa has been intolerable these last few days with Joe & Evan. Why did he have them on if all he was gonna do was belittle them, their ideas and, and their teams. Was that his reason??? What was upper management's role in all of this and what will they ultimately do? This is his worst day yet. The look on his face all day...so smug.....just INTOLERABLE. I have beem on Sirus, 1050 ESPN, CNBC more and more

Wow, today has just been great. The tri-fecta had finally taken place. Francesa got bitched out by Mike from Montclair. Evan just took him to school all day, and by the way everytime Evan ripped Mike, Mike would just make fun of the Mets collapsing. Mike said he didnt want to make the show about the mets, but obviously the Met collapse was his only topic all day. He had no substance in his arguments whatsoever. And thirdly, Mike was so bad that he even got our friend bill to listen to Mad Dog. The only thing i can ask for now is Obama to obliterate McCain tonight and Hamels to 3 the Dodgahs..

I am so excited that Mike is being called out, left and right. Unfortunately, I can only catch 40 min or so a day of the show but from the feedback I'm reading, it must be great. Although I did not hear Evan today, I will not give him any credit for arguing with Mike over Wright, Reyes or the overall clutchiness of the current Mets until he brings some numbers to the table and really shuts Mike's mouth. It appears, however, that Evan is incapable of this as he continues to talk of grit, overall grittyness, dirty uniforms and clutchified performances of players vastly inferior to Wright or Reyes. Pity. Anyone hear Boomah saying, "I wouldn't break up this core" this morning? Nice to see a little fight from 'ol Norman.

I love how Mike says: "I don't go for numbaaars, don't give me any numbaaas, they don't mean anything"

Then whenever he want's to make some idiotic point, "Eddie get me the book" then he proceeds to lecture everyone about certain players numbaaas.

The show is really un-listenable.

I have a change of heart. Evan Roberts can hold his own. And he can be funny. I don't understand this blog's harsh treatment of Mike (Yes he is a pompous ass. But he is sports in New York. He's over half the reason Mike and Dog were the best ever. It cannot be better. Let's get it good.Better. Bring in the jingles. Try it with Evan. Let's go! Also I watched Dog interviewing Roger Goodell today. Now THAT was a snooze fest.

Oh, Mike. Make a choice. Move the frig fpward...

bud, now would it be fun if we just sat back and wrote on how clever and astute Mike is? Look. He was a bully for many years. Now he's just turned mean-spirited and the chickens are coming home to roost.

why can't someone call Francesca and ask him if it is true that Wright refused to come on his show.

See him wiggle out of that one.

My thoughts on Bill's post are that he is right, that Chernoff made him do this, that Mike was against the idea and he took it out on Joe and Evan.

Mike said he would never have another partner, but cherny say where the solo show was headed and insisted Mike try out some partners.

Mike is miserable and worried and it shows.

For anyone who was watching on YES during that Mike from Montclair call, Evan's mannerisms were classic. He had his face buried his arms laughing his ass off as Mike from Montclair quoted Francesa on the "prime real estate radio" and how the show was circling the drain. It's great to see Mike squirm for a change. I don't feel bad for him in the slightest. I haven't heard Russo, from the reactions I hear he isn't doing great himself, but Mike was dead wrong if he thought he never needed Chris to be a success.

Mike was not OVER half the reason Mike and the Mad Dog was so successful (unless we're talking about weight differential), Mike was barely half the reason for its success. Chris carried the show.

I didn't hear much, but it did sound like Evan takes much shit from Mike. Yesterday, Mike was busting his balls about getting the job thanks to his mother's assistance. Today, he was telling Evan not to be so self-effacing; he's doing something most 25-year-olds can't do. Suddenly, it sounds like Mike's horse isn't quite so high.

Mike was much more humble during the first 8 or 9 years of the show. Then he started making the big money, the Yankees kept winning then he got re-married to Ro. Now he's just an arrogant jerk.

Now about Wright. If you remember back in March 60 minutes had Bill James on it's program. They asked James "Who's the best player" Albert Pujols. If you could only pick one player to start a team who would it be "David Wright".

Also, I know it's only Fanatasy Baseball, but people play for huge sums of money. I bet you that Wright was one of the top 10 players chosen in almost every league.

Mike's going to have to start doing his homework. With his ego and dismissiveness of any contrary opinion, he's now just a sitting target.

Plus, he just suddenly seems old to me, completely ignoring any statistical evidence, having no openmindedness about any information that he didn't come up with himself.

When you've made your career being "The Sports Doctor", you've got to stay sharp.

There are lots of under 30 listeners who come armed with good arguments--though for the record, I think Mike from Montclair is often an ass.

i agree. i thought Joe B would be the best but Mike and Evans was the best.

I can't believe I missed this show!!!

It sounds like it was a "YES CLASSIC" in the making and Mike is falling fast!

I tip my Hat to Evan and I guess to Mike from Montclair.

Mike needs to move on from the David Wright issue and get back to current sports issues!
