The Repeat Caller

I just listened to a certain caller complaining to Mikey about Daniel Murphy. I am quite certain that this same caller phoned in to Joe and Evan this morning with the exact same phone call (please ignore the fact that somehow I know this). These types of callers have always amazed me. Do you really need to call in to multiple shows on the same radio station on the same day with the same exact argument? It's like when Lt. Galloway objected and then strenuously objected. We got the point the first time. This is almost worse in my mind than the "I'll hang up now and listen" or the "Mike, remember me, I called in 1998 telling you that Sosa and Mac were on steroids" call. We have talked here in the past about callers that bother you the most. Which irritates you more than any other?

I've brought this topic up before too...and the guys who think they're part of the show kills me too...those people that call every show every day, and the hosts know who they are (some of them are OK).

People who wait two hours on hold to say "I'm through with baseball" everytime there's a story about ticket prices, steroids, night games, players not running out ground balls, etc.

It's the same 10 callers - and they're all calling Neer.

My love for M from M is documented. He has a loyal following here so I'll try and stay out of range of the bombs that are launched on his behalf each time he's called out for being an arrogant, self-important ninny. My least favorite callers include anyone who:

1. Tells Mike they want to hear his "expert" opinion
2. Tell Mike they met him at an event 14 years ago and does he remember
3. M from M

The worst callers are the ones who feel they need to give their "fan resume" before they make their point.

"Mike, I been rooting for the Yankees since 1957, I saw Mantle, Maris, blah, blah, blah"

i know.....when sheffield came in bob from staten island, racist ralph from manhattan and howie from brooklyn all said the same shit about sheffield to every show i listened to.

Why do callers say" I will hang up and listen" anyway? Is it because they are afraid the station will think they hung up on Mike? Isn't there some sort of rule where a caller hangs up he is banned? Is this true?

Lisa from Whitestone's voice makes me cringe.

lots of people do this if you happen to listen to the fan all day. or even just parts of the day. doris from rego park used to call into EVERY show with the same question. god bless her soul tho.

theres also a girl with a not-hot raspy voice that calls in from california. i remember she made a huge deal of the fact that fox saturday has a monopoly on 3pm games. she calls in a lot on the overnights and shes always interupting the host with "im sorry, but whine whine whine." i forget her name. i think it starts with a j.

you should start an entry on like the worst callers of wfan. unless of course, this is it. ha.

I remember Doris from Rego Park used to call up Joe B on the overnight every night / morning. She had the worst smokers cough I ever heard - seriously couldn't get through a sentence without coughing and having to start over at least 2-3 times. She loved her Mets

I hate the "I'll hang up and listen" - it's so they don't get into a back and forth with the host I think, and so they can just get their question in without any interruption I guess? So stupid, useless and annoying regardless

I loath the term "real quick"..what does that mean exactly? Alot of callers say it.

Anyone who says 'I'm a diehard fan" and then proceeds to completely trash whatever team they have just pledged their undying love for...Anyone who says "love your show" no matter how wretched the show/host is(Mikey, Kay, e.g.}...Anyone who says "inside radio" stuff like "I know I'm up against a 20/20"...Anyone who touts a prospect in AA ball so we can all marvel at their knowledge...Anyone who calls the show between 3 and 5 AM...Anyone who says the last caller stole their thunder when the last caller was a nitwit who had nothing interesting to say...Anyone who calls to say the Yankees should spend $150,000,000 for player X and then calls 6 months later to complain about the price of hot dogs at the stadium...

Ummm...UpstateJohn won this challenge. I think you should be rewarded with your own show. Good post homeboy.

Does Yorktown really count as upstate?

The people who give their "credentials" first, as mentioned by 41...and also the people who say they've been listening to the show since the beginning and are now calling for the first time because they just had to chime in about how Mark Teixeira isn't hitting. And finally the regulars like Lisa from Whitestone who feel like they're part of the show and need to take forever to make their dull point.

the people who call in multiple times a day. do these people have lives?
