Mike's Nightmare

I am pretty sure this will be a totally Yankeecentric show. Mike is going to come out firing at the boys from the Bronx. No one will be safe as he turns both barrels on the front office, manager, coaches and the whole dang roster. o - 5 against the hated Sawx? Inexcusable! Inconceivable! I mean, come on, some of those guys are playing haard out there. The true Yanks like Capt. America, Cano (new addition), Andy and Mo are busting their tails out there! These mercenaries aren't worth the paper their contract's been written on, so far. The Yanks core is intact and showing the grit and hustle that wins games! These guys don't know what being a Yankee is about! They better learn or the Yanks will just swallow their mistakes, eat the $400 MM and find guys who know what this tradition is all about!

Across town, on the other hand, is a bunch of lucky prima donnas who are lucky they play in an inferior division in an inferior league. They have no grit at all. No dirty uniforms and not enough edge! Delgado is obviously unable to perform under the bright lights of this city, Wright can't hit in a big spot and Luis Castillo kicks dogs and trips old people.

GMan, I think all of this will save us from much on Favre, thankfully. Also, the NBA is not compelling enough yet so I bet we get wall to wall NY baseball today. Starting with the poor play of the Yanks before moving to the luck of the Mets and Sawx. This is gonna be fun!

What a spoiled BRAT this guy is!!!!

Breaking News Mike:
The Yankees are'nt entitled to win a world series every year and the Red Sox are clearly the better orginization.

Relax Fatso-- the Yanks will be fine.

Try walking in a Mets fans shoes for a change. We're use to disappointment(lol).

Mike is right though-- The Yanks need to get some fans in those seats.

JD...Yanks overplayed their hand so badly with tickets, prices etc. the place is a joke. Mike will definitely touch on Wright's early season slump today. Here are the numbers, thus far: 299/389/454. Below expectations but not horrible. Check this Yankee out: 279/350/432. Probably Molina or Gardner, right? Nope. Capt Jeets. Why have we not heard about his slow start?

Kbilly - If you had listened to the first segment today of Mike's show, you can't tell me that Dog can beat that. Mike is on fire. If Russo had done the same open whining about the Giants, no one would care.

"Congratulations to the Mets, for winning two games against the Braves." were his first words of the show. And then he went straight to the Yankees. Classic stuff.

good opener, if i must say so myself.

semi-off topic, but here goes:

earlier on joe and evan, they were talking about how sterling was getting annoyed at the home plate ump for calling balls and strikes a second or two later than usual.

wondering how yankee fans feel when sterling blows calls like homeruns that are pop-ups and pop-ups that are blasts into the upper deck.

This is vintage Francesa and it certainly is amusing, even as a bummed out Yankee fan. He is acting like the sky is falling - it's a bad time for Yanks but please, let's relax a little Mike.

Although he used "this whole idea" at the top of the show, he's really big on "I understand." He ranted about getting people into the park. "I understand the economy, I understand it was raining. I understand there is swine flu." Apparently, he understands a lot.

I also love when he get's so mad that he yells and basically loses his voice a bit. "I understand he struck out 12 guys - HE GAVE UP FOUR RUNS IN THE FIRST!"

AS, I hope you're at least admitting that your team has no grit. Hell, your GM admitted it!

For the Yanks, I'd be content to get through May with a .500 record. Guys are dropping left and right, what else is new? I saw a stat that like 40% of the current roster did not break camp with the big club. I hate losing, and I especially hate losing to Boston, but Mike needs to relax. I shut it off because he is annoying me. Joba isn't allowed to fist pump in the 5th inning because he isn't winning? Shut up, tubbo! The man was losing by ONE run, had just struck out 8 in a row, and was hanging tough in a game that would've had Oliver Perez out before the 1st inning was over. I was fired up myself! The bullpen and Mark Teixeira are guys to get annoyed over right now, and I don't doubt that both will manage to turn things around. But aside from one bad pitch to Jason Bay that ended up in a 3 run bomb, Joba had himself one of those grind-it-out outings to be proud of. Mike just gets annoyed any time Joba shows signs he can be a great starter because Mike seems to think that pitching for 1 inning is more important. For some reason, he doesn't realize that the only guys you throw in the bullpen are guys who prove they can't be starting pitchers. That's how Mariano ended up a closer, and that's why Perez is now the 3rd highest paid reliever in the game.

bigjf...I haven't been following the grit factor. I think San Diego is the early leader in the category. Is the formula for success: grit*heart/dirty uniforms? If so, Texas will be tough to beat this year. Their uni's are filthy sometimes.

"Watching the Yankees on the YES Network reminds me of what it must've been like watching TV in the old Soviet Union"

I didn't get the callers name

What if Cashman woke up one day and was Omar Minaya? Then Omar wakes up and he's Cashman.

It's a GM Freaky Friday. That'd be awesome. Mike or Dog should discuss. It could happen.

Who would make the better team?

haha wow this cracked me up. caller calling in looking to see what it would take to get halliday. fatso INSISTS reyes has to be in the deal for toronto accepts.

uhm... just like the mets HAD to have reyes in the johan santana deal with minnesota.

i love how fatso keeps repeating things year after year but never really learns anything from his mistakes.

jason...i was actually thinking about that the other day how I would give up reyes for halladay in a heartbeat even though roy's best years are likely behind him..the more I watch reyes the more I realize that he just isn't the smartest of players and he doesnt have that killer instinct - never steals a base when the mets need it etc...so on this one Mike actually might be right BUT he was so badly off on the santana deal that it was laughable..for months mike insisted the mets didnt have the minor league talent to get santana...actually come to think of it, he was right - have you checked the guys stats that the mets gave up for him..they're awful
