SI.com put together a list of the top 100 players in MLB. I don't really agree with most of Posnanski picks. Let's flood Mike and Dog with our opinions.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/joe_posnanski/07/21/top.100/index.html?eref=sihpT1
1. Albert Pujols
KBilly thinks this is a no-brainer.
2. Joe Mauer
Um, no.
3. Hanley Ramirez
Not quite.
4. Zack Greinke
No freaking way.
5. Chase Utley
Hard to argue. But, as a Mets fan, I still hate him. I think Rollins is better all around.
6. Alex Rodriguez
Roids, enuff said.
7. Tim Lincecum
A little too high for a kid having only his second good year.
9. Johan Santana
He's great but doesn't go deep enough and doesn't turn it on until July.
10. Roy Halladay
Are you kidding? He's the best starter in MLB (slight edge because of his complete games).
11. Prince Fielder
I think Ryan Howard gets the slight edge here.

KBilly - Tough to argue with Joe Pos, my man. You missed Haren at #8, BTW and should've extended your list to 12 so Beltran could be featured.
Anyway, because of their defensive prowess and their defensive positions, Mauer and Ramirez are right where they should be on this list. Not sure if Joe can keep up the power surge but he's still a force, playing the game of baseball.
Halladay has the pedigree (history) but right now, this second, Lincecum and Greinke are better.
Also, Utley has a WARP1 of 4.8 and OBP of .420. Rollins OBP is < .300 (Jeff Francouersish) and a WARP1 of -.1. Rollins makes DWRight look like Mickey Mantle this year.
KBilly - you offer your protests. But where is your alternate list? Who slides into Mauer and Ramirez's slots if they don't cut it?
Missed until now - who was that guy telling Mike what he twitters?
Mike thinks Youk is the best.
Who cares how "it looks to baseball", Mike??
Like it MATTERS what the Yanks do or sign or spend. Its like the USA, both are hated NO MATTER WHAT they do.

Gabagool...mike is dreaming with this unlimited revenues thing. I mean, sure, they prob could get him but that puts a big dent in the bottomline. That, along with luxury tax certainly puts a damper on things. Mike just wants to win with only a 40 percent higher payroll than the next highest team as opposed to 110 percent.
Loki...Omar is the perfect frontman for a ham an egger organization like the Mets. 5 shutouts in 13 games is unreal.
Loki
Only thing I would add is..............LUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCYYY!
Good one Loki!!!
I was in the backyard enjoying a brew and grilling some chicken when they had the Omar.... whatever the hell that was... and I could only picture Magnum Minaya and Jerry Manuel with his pink panther hat on and a magnifying glass in one hand and a 40 oz in the other saying lets investigate boss.
I also heard Mike with Jerry(who still thinks they have a shot with good pitching) and Mike have his usual warm and fuzzy things to say after the interview.
What a joke!
JD
Please, please, please, who was that guy today with Mike who said he twittered? He was great! Would make a good partner. . .
Yeah I was asking that too. I heard later some caller referred to him as a "young comedian" but other than that I have no clue.
6. Alex Rodriguez
Roids, enuff said.
Not really K. PROVEN roids is ENOUGH SAID. Roids is just about EVERYBODY'S dirty little secret.
Do you REALLY believe that a 40 HR guy can have 5 at this point of the season and brush it off to "pitching around him?""
After Arod and Manny, NOONE suprises me, and that includes Pujols.
Gabagool...Pretty sure Wright never hit 40 but the point is understood. As good as some of his value stats still are his season has been a failure too. Truth be told, he must be humiliated and his stature has diminished.
Awesome
Right you are! Damn, I guess my regard for him was as a 40 hr guy.
Sorry about that.
And good point.
Talk about embarrassed!!! Talk about humiliated!!!
I was the biggest critic of Mike during his 8 month tirade to break up "THE CORE" and I was a huge supporter of David Wright.
Now it turns out that Fat Bastard was correct all along and gets from now until the Mets become relevent again(somewhere in the far off future) to let us fans know about it.
I'm one of those fans who refuses to use injuries as an excuse so I still give Mike his due for being correct.
Here is another worthless prediction:
I'm gonna have a very long month of August waiting for football season.
JD
Such a pompous asshole - has to mention 8 times how Wang "has wanted to come in and talk for some time"
I love how Mike has the nerve to bash ESPN while simultaneously having the ESPN.com page up on the computer behind him. It's so perfect.
Mike is acting like a pompous jerk today!
He takes two weeks off and comes back to some perfect stories. The Mets demise and the breakdown of their operations, he acts "fatherly" like towards Erin Andrews, and bashes ESPN.
He agitates Yankee fans by telling them not to sign Halliday and how nothing is proven till they beat Boston.
To make matters worse callers are telling him how great he is with his psychic abilities and knowledge.
He'll never be able to live with himself!!!
Time for another vacation big guy! You've earned the right to admire your good looks and mental brillance(LOL).
JD
Mike LOVES the Red Sox - ugh it pisses me off hearing him gush over them
Two things.
Why not get them ALL, mike? Gee for a financial guru like you, that should be easy. The Yanks CAN'T afford to get them all. But IF they play by the book and add a TON of players AND STILL MAKE A PROFIT, whats the BIG deal?
And this crap of Mike talking garbage about the Yanks and loving the Sox (Youk is among the best players? On what planet? The sox have a TON of top notch prospects? On what planet? They got 1 in the top 40.) this is all trying to take a page out of Maddogs annoying book.
Reyes to the Sox for.................who?
Would you mets fans take.........Buckholz and Anderson and Lester? One pretty proven starter, one potential and one top 50 prospect first baseman??
Oh, by the way:
"born learning.org" commercial has now become number one annoying commercial on the fan, overtaking Cars for Kids.
Who the f cares about this NYRA v OTB thing?
Booooooring
Ohh, alot of people, you'd be surprised.....
Yeah right. No mike, YOURE interested, not your listeners. I mean, how many callers have talked about it????
Wow, can't wait to see this catch that Mike is gushing about.
That was some catch!!!!
JD
Burhle with a perfect game, second no-hitter. Ramon Castro was the catcher. He got a call from Obama. Dog has the White Sox pitching coach on now.
The catch was insane!
