For Father's Day:Ramblings from Daddy Dog, AKA Tony Russo

2nd biggest Yankees Fan, Tony from New Mexico...Didn't know it was 0-8 vs Red Sox; Calls Mariano Rivera: Mariana; Doesn't think Wang is the answer; Swisher is overrated "that's true"; He didn't think about A-Rod stealing the other night; He doesn't know about Girardi, he is so-so; Red Sox have a better pitching staff than the Yankees; Posada "absolutely" is not a HOFer; Yogi, Dickie, Munson and Howard were all better than Posada; In Tony's eyes, DiMaggio was the greatest ballplayer ever, but Ted Williams was the greatest hitter; Yanks have to win 7 of the next 9 games...Tony was "all over the map today."
He isn't as "sharp as he usually" is...
And does not answer the phone when he should despite getting paid.

I think this is further reason to not subscribe to Sirius. That spot was always painful.

Painful? I always remember Dog's father as being a funny, old man. Not very knowledgeable, but entertaining nonetheless.

I always liked Dogs dad.

He was one of the few callers that Mike would actually treat with some respect.

No, not very knowledgeable at all, in fact I rate him as a step below Mike, but humorous and a nice little distraction from the show.

Sorry, I agree with Sean. Another example of the massive ego that is MMD. "Its MY dad so people are interested"....please you semi illiterate speech impeded weasel, take Imus sorry excuse for a wife, your dad and take a long walk. Maybe its not true that NOBODY cares, but 99.9% don't. Like your political views, your book "reviews", you family goings on, actually ANYTHING but your extremely limited knowledge of sports makes you even MORE unbearable. You love your dad? Great. Keep him to yourself, all to yourself.

It's great when people comment on stuff they don't even hear. I actually heard it and it's a very funny 10 minutes. He's like a combination of Larry David's dad on Curb and Seinfeld's dad. He spent the first 3 minutes having a personal conversation with Russo before he realized he was actually on air, and then got all embarrassed. Funny stuff. Good entertaining radio.

By the way, KBilly, you're becoming quite the regular on Dog's show. I think only Mario from Minnesota outcalls you.

I always liked the spots with Tony as well, but I liked them when Mike conducted the questions. He seemed to get really funny responses out of Tony. But I didn't hear this spot since I don't get Sirius. Anyway, isn't Tony retired?

Mike is downright depressing today!

He has given the Yankees inoperable cancer and declared the Mets legally dead.

I guess if we are to believe the "great prognosticator" football season can't get here quick enough.

Mike still thinks the Yanks will win the wild card, provided the Rays don't get healthy. Not ready to concede yet. Smart, considering it's June...

Sorry just heard opening and had to mention- that full jingle is so horrendous. Don't know what makes it harder to sit here and listen to this show - struggling through those 30 seconds or history telling me how unbearable it will be to listen to Mike. Luckily he can't complain about the Yankees today

Dog never saw Airplane!?
Terrible.

That is a terrible job outta Doggie if that's true.

Mike's complaining about the Yankees is getting old very fast. Even I don't care about this that much.

Loki,

You had to know it was coming. It's been about the Mets or Yankees every day after a loss.

Mike is giving the Mets a bit of a pass since the "core" is'nt around(supposedly injured) so it will be about the Yanks until they turn it around.

At least he's getting on the Yanks during the season. He did the same thing to the Mets and the core the entire off season.

I do agree his "talk" is getting old and Mikes vacation time can't get here quick enough. Us listeners need a break from him.

This is more the reason we need the "DOG" around. At least he'd throw in some Wimbledon here and there.

I agree it might be getting a bit old but I liked today's opening

Wimbeldon has been very good so far, by the way, even without Nadal...
