HUMOR ON THE FAN

There was a caller who was talking with Mike and was just about to get his point out when there was a scream of a baby in the background. The caller says, "Mike, I'm gonna have to call you back." Mike took it in stride. "Ok," he said. And then Mike went off the reservation a bit. Amidst all the talk of ARod, the stalking of ARod, Favre, Jeter as compared to Dimaggio as Yankee captain, the Russo on Stern brouhaha, etc., Mike was able to keep it light and have a little fun.

Legendary father Mike informed us that these things happen, "You're listening to a show and the baby cries...I've been there." Mike came up with "that was a baby falling-off-the-couch type of thing". And then was able to deduce that the crying child in question was not walking yet. Then it got even more amusing as Mike tried to paint a picture of fatherhood..."the baby rolls this way, it rolls that way. It gets stuck in the walker." Then Mike put a very nice bow tie on this total non sequitur of a conversation with, "I'm past all those things. I got 'em all walking. All talking. All potty-trained."

Truly the jack of all trades.

A guy from mikefrancesa.com just got through and tried to goad Mike to respond to whatever it is that Chris said. Mike just promised that he will respond. "Keep your shirt on," he said.

Yeah I heard that too. He's just trying to get more listeners and keep up the suspense. Guarantee you that he will barely say anything..

A caller just filled Chris in on the situation. Told Chris that Mike wasn't happy. Chris can't believe it. Refers to Neil Best's post from today. This will get interesting.

Mike just had a 'doctor' on the phone for a long time. Mike treated him as a real source of accurate information on PEDs. It would have been great if at the end of the interview, the guy said, "Mike, by the way, I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night."

I just heard Mike's new jingle. God it is awful. At least Dog uses Metallica.

I have given up waiting for Mike to break his silence about Dog. He is dragging this on for way too long. Someone please post about it if he ever decides to open his fat mouth.

After this break.
We knew he'd hold out to 6:00

Mike just absolutely broke it down to Sirius, dog, and ESPN.

"Damn sure we're going to be number 1 as long as I'm sitting right here".

He even looked the YES camera straight on for the first time.

Crazy stuff!

gman...It's my absolute favorite when Mike talks as if he's peers with his listeners. Kids, highchairs, diapers, neighbors blah, blah, blah. One of the people, he is.

Gotta hand it to him on his close. Now, I am not about to look up his numbers but assuming they're right, good for him throwing down the gauntlet. I like how he was repsonding to Dog's comments and then attacked ESPN. Kinda like when Col. Jessup suddenly attacks Lt. Weinberg. Nice.

At least we know we got another 6 years with the Big Fella.

Fuck Mike.
Don't praise that fat arrogant bastard.

What that asshole forget is the reason he's #1 is because Dog was his partner for 19 years.

And nobody cares about his little NFL now show. I don't know one person that listens to that show.

And his Mike'd up show is 20 min. long so whoopie. Congrats you fat bastard. Pat yourself on the back jerkoff.

His show is awful I don't care what the ratings are.
And Kay ratings are going up so suck on that fat man.

Admitedly I did'nt hear what Dog said on Stern and how bad it was, but I do think Mikes handling of the situation was over the top and just another attempt by Mike to validate himself as the greatest person in the world.

Mike opened his show with how bad it is for jeter to have to answer for A-rods faults and I think Mike fantasized for the next 5 hours how he had to do the same in response to Mad Dogs comments!

I do think it was a huge mistake for Mike not to be on radio row super bowl week. Mike does'nt like radio row but if he chooses to be a sports broadcaster for the so called "great WFAN" than radio row is where you must be super bowl week!!! Mike admitted to a falling out between he and Bill Parcells. Maybe there is a pattern forming here where Mike has falling outs with long time friends??? Possibly when Mike can no longer control the situation???

Mikes close to the show was totally arrogant and obnoxious. It reminded me of his outburst against Boomer and Carton. His Godfather like speech seemed very childish. Mike is the one who stated how anyone could do the 2-7 slot and have the number 1 show in NY.

All that said it was todays show that keeps me tuned in. He is a train wreck in the works and behavior like today reminds me how pathetic he really is!

No matter how many times Mike said otherwise today--- he is loving the demise of XM/Sirius radio.

Mike and Dog will never be friends and I don't think they can co-exist peacefully and play nice. It's a real shame since they both owe a lot to each other for the success they both enjoy.

JD,

I agree with you 100%. Well said.

Mike's arrogance blinds him.

It's funny how Mike waited until 6 to have a response for dog. Gee I wonder if he wanted to get some ratings......

I actually called dog (Mark from NJ) after Mike's little speech and Chris said,

"I'm NOT rooting against Mike. I have good friends over at WFAN that I would never want to see without a job. Mike is wrong there. I never brought up ratings. Howard did. Howard was trying to stir the pot....which is his job. But what was I suppose to do? Walk off Howard's show in disgust?"

Perhaps since Mike waited 5 hours into his show before he was ready to talk about it, he could have used the time to actually listen to the Russo interview or have one of his producers do so. Because he's the ONLY one who thinks Russo ripped him. No one who actually listened thinks Dog said or did anything wrong or overly competitive. Maybe a tweak here or there, but nothing to get him all riled up. This was all about Mike's own insecurities about his new show which just isn't very good.

Francesa worked with bob gelb everyday for ten years, a year later fatso finds a girl to marry him for his good look$ and he doesn't invite gelb to his wedding. A true friend. His first wife gone, russo gone, gelb gone, parcells gone, who likes his guy.Who lets their 75 year old mother buy a condo with stairs in it in florida. Mike francesa does, he needed the money for the house in the hamptons. That Dog stood there for 20 years is amazing. I like the story when parcells told fatso he was show casing anderson on the jets in preseason, so fatso called his bookie and bet the over how many yards he would carry for. Now I am sure parcells would appreciate that too.
