WHOSE PORN WAS IT?: WEDNESDAY SHOW OPEN

I sat down wondering how Mike would begin the show today. There really isn't much happening. The "opening salvo" hasn't been tossed out in the free agent world, football is a few days away. What would Mike begin with? Of course, a screensaver.

Mike began the show with yelling at Eddie Erickson to come into the studio because someone had left a screensaver with a naked woman on it. Mike's show is broadcast throughout the country, throughout the world, perhaps to the astronauts in space right now, they cannot see this filth. THEY CANNOT. Mike claimed not to know who put this screensaver on the computer but I say we take a guess.

Here are the options
Joe B: he is the favorite to me
Evan: doesn't feel right
Minko: could it be a passive aggressive "salvo" against Mike?
Carton and Boomer: a very strong option
Christopher Russo: could he perhaps sneak into the studios of WFAN at 4am and put this on Mike's computer? It is not likely since Russo does not know how to use a computer and his idea of a hot girl would be a Tim Lincecum life size poster.

Who could it be?

(a side note, Mike needs to be aware that we can find out all sorts of stuff on the internet. He talks about how none of us really know what other teams are thinking, but that's not really true. Go to www.mlbtraderumors.com and you can see plenty of what is being talked about. The information is everywhere, it's not hard to find. It's actually amazing how little Mike and also Chris have embraced the internet as a source for information. Wouldn't that be helpful?)

Francesspool just mentioned how "he watched" Goose Gossage get yanked in and out of the pen...reliever to starter and back again, over and over again through the years.

Gossage started 8 games in his first 157(!) appearances before Tanner turned him into a full time starter in 1976, where he made 29 starts and two relief outings.

After 1976...Gossage never started another ML game.

752 straight games in relief.

Oh...and yesterday the 'Pool embarrassingly discovered that Nick Swisher is Steve Swisher's son.

I guess he REALLY never did read "Moneyball".

Four chicken parms to go, please.

If it was a naked guy, then we'd know it was Evan.

My favorite thing that Francesa does is instead of looking up a players stats on the net, he tells one of his guys to get the baseball enclyopedia which is like a million pages.

HAHAHAHA!

Rosenthal reporting that Mussina is retiring...after El Portly has sworn on a stack of pancakes that "THERE IS NO WAY MUSSINA IS RETIRING AFTER A 20-WIN SEASON!"

I think myou folks are missing the point. I was on air for a long time. Why Mike did that crap on-air is so far beyond me, it is scary. Don't air your dirty laundry. It does further illustrate how oblivious he is to any type of common sense. Mike, you do not need a partner. You need therapy...

Mike was surprised to hear today that Mussina is retiring. He really does live in an ivy tower, doesn't he? Doesn't use the internet, doesn't believe anything he hears contrary to his own proclamations...the rest of us have believed and known for weeks that Mussina was leaning towards retirement. This is no surprise to anyone but him. It annoys me that he gets to interview Mussina today. He doesn't deserve that spot.

*ivory tower*

Also, tubbo, Mussina is a HOF. So prepare to be shocked 5 years from now.

Musina ain't making it to the HOF if you drove him to Cooperstown.

Agreed with bigjf about Mike and his ivory tower...As for Mussina I think a lot has to be made of the fact that he pitched so succesfully his entire career in a) the steroid era and b) the AL East. I think New Yorkers especially have a bit of a sour taste in their mouth from mussina here the past 6 years, as he never fully materialized into the ace we thought we were signing in 01. Even with last year's great performance, everyone was still doubting his starts and never giving him credit until way late in the year
