The Core Of It

Here we go again. We haven’t even reached opening day and Mike is already getting to his core issues. A caller just told Francesa he thinks the Mets will win the NL East and Mike’s response was:

“Did they tinker with the core? Why is the core going to be different?”

Jesus f’ing christ. Can’t we at least play one game of the season before you start using words like “core, clutch and big spot?” I mean, Mike, please, please, please stop talking about the Mets core until they have actually played one game...Yeah we know you hate Reyes' antics, Wright's clutch hitting and Delgado's Puerto Rican heritage, but talking about the core already? It's going to be a long season....

Was just in the car listening to this and couldn't believe he was heading down this road again. I mean, c'mon, can we get some new material? It's not even that clever. Jesus, sometimes listening to Mike and his dutiful callers talk baseball can drive a fella to drink. Mike analyzing baseball is like asking NASA to send a satellite to Mars using only an abacus and a sundial.

I did hear Steve from SI, though. That guy is great. He mentioned the NYY should seek Juan Pierre. I can't figure out if he's a NYY fan or not.

I haven't listened since the open but apparently UConn is the dominant team in the tournament. Mike talked about how they had only trailed once(he was corrected that it was twice). Apparently it's smooth sailing to another national championship for the Huskies. It's not like UNC has been dominant either. Noooo. Mike doesn't think they can play defense, so they can't possibly win it all.

Since when is Mike so partisan about UConn. I know that he's all buddy buddy with Jim Calhoun, but is this a recent thing? Does he get a relationship with a coach(Like Carlesimo and Seton Hall) and become the program's cheerleader?

Having written this, I must admit I will be pulling for the Huskies because if they win, that's a few hundred dollars for yours truly.

He also just told a caller that it would have been "impossible" to ask Calhoun about the NCAA investigation b/c he only had Calhoun for 10 minutes. Mikey will get to that in a few months when the story blows over and no one cares. But today it would have been impossible.

What in the world is Mike doing watching American Idol? Actually I'm not suprised. Him and every 12-14 year old girl. He has a real pop, used to say "bubble gum" taste of music, but come on. Is he kidding? He said it's "not a bad show." And he admits it right here over the air waves and on YES. Come on!!!!! What a pussy!!

today [thursday] chris made mention of the fact that wfan exercises it's contractual right to keep mad dog unleashed from doing a remote from either mets or yankee spring training camp as well as citi field and yankee stadium.but we are "not in competition with them" chris added sarcastically ,which i believe refers to a mike f. remark on how wfan was impervious to sirius.

Not a Mets fan and i don't have the stat handy, but how can Mike constantly revert to this "core" as the problem when they had 27 (or whatever it was) blown leads last season in last two innings? Is he kidding me? They added two top of the line relievers and let's say they only elminate half of those, they are easily clear of the Phillies. Right?

F*ck David Wright if he can't strike out the side in the 8th and hit a triple grand slam to win in the 9th!

You don't have the numbers whatdoyouhave?? No worries, neither does Mike. He just likes to make stuff based on what happened last night and small sample sizes. You could feed him numbers until his eyes bleed and he'll still come back with the following:

1. Jeter and Bernie are co-clutch Kings of the World
2. David Wright is Mr. March
3. Paul O'Neill had great curls

I have to give him credit for doing a better job with the Cutler story than Donnie Pucks. Of course, it's Donnie Pucks so I guess he doesn't deserve too much credit.
