This year he's way worse than league average. He's been terrible. I wonder if Tubby still think he "misses bats" when he's striking out in excess of 2 fewer batters per 9 innings than the league average pitcher. That's what he's doing this year.

It's pretty obvious that Mike doesn't know shit about how intelligent people analyze baseball in this day and age. Here's a clue: ERA is not the most important stat. It's subject to a lot of noise that the pitcher can't control very well. Since he doesn't watch the NBA or NHL anyway, he should have plenty of time to research how the performance of baseball players is evaluated in 2009, instead of the gibberish he spews that's a throwback to 1959.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3569103123926136841.post-2937972329131469662009-05-28T20:48:00.765-07:002009-05-28T20:48:00.765-07:00The amazing thing, anon, is that Mike went back an...The amazing thing, anon, is that Mike went back and looked at all that in the next segment. But since apparently no one would call Pettitte, Duque, or Cone "aces" over their careers, the Yankees thus did not have any aces during those championship years. I guess there is no such thing as an "ace" season. Maybe they ought to move Aceves, Tomko, Coke, and Veras into the rotation and put Sabathia, Burnett, and Hughes in the pen while they're at it.bigjfnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3569103123926136841.post-87131544799423740382009-05-28T14:46:37.288-07:002009-05-28T14:46:37.288-07:00Mike just made the claim that an ace was never par...Mike just made the claim that an ace was never part of the Yankees package that won 4 world series between 96 and 2000. Mike asked one caller to define an ace for him. The fan responded by saying an ace is someone with close to 20 wins and an era around 3.5. Mike believes the yankees' 4 rings from the 90's were a product of their bullpen and that this 20 game winner was non-existent. However if one were to actually look at the stats for those teams, you would discover that Pettite won 21 games for the yanks in 96, David Cone won 20 games in 98, El Duque won 17 in 99, and Pettite won 19 in 2000. It would be nice if Francesa looked at the stats before he made his claimsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3569103123926136841.post-3875436598459815352009-05-28T13:18:18.836-07:002009-05-28T13:18:18.836-07:00I gave Mike another chance today. Heard that remark about Arroyo, and turned it off again.

If Arroyo is a great pitcher, then Randy Johnson should've won a Cy Young while he was with the Yankees for winning 17 games. It's called run support, which Arroyo has plenty of with the Reds.

As for Mike screaming at Alex, yeah I did get a chuckle at it, but then he continued on and on in that condescending, screaming tone like he takes it personal. Mike screaming about Joba is like a 2 year old screaming that 2+2=6. There's no way to argue with a 2 year old and there's no way to argue with Mike. You can't use logic or facts. You just have to sigh, let him think he's right, and ignore him.bigjfnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3569103123926136841.post-38935029668050914772009-05-28T12:38:31.112-07:002009-05-28T12:38:31.112-07:00Mike had a good rant today about Bronson Arroyo ag...Mike had a good rant today about Bronson Arroyo again. He thought the Mets' signing of Sheffield was a terrible idea and Sheff would be a clubhouse pain in the neck. He said and I quote:" I was dead wrong about that."
